Theoretical estimates of recombination fraction λ are obtained for the stochastic models of multiple loci - (i) diallelic, (ii) multiple allelic, and (iii) infinite allelic populations. Using the theoretical estimate of λ, the estimate of genetic load is obtained. The testing of theoretical estimate of λ against its conventionally calculated value is illustrated with examples. Simulation program for the calculation of recombination fraction λ is also presented.
